Thanksgiving has always meant turkey and dressing, but due to both parents always serving ham for Christmas, we decided to go with whatever we're in the mood for. Over the last 30+ years that has included KFC, Captain D's, subs, tacos and burritos, chili, hot dogs, hamburgers, brown beans and cornbread with fried potatoes, pizza, spaghetti or lasagna, and even grilled cheese with tomato or chicken noodle soup. My husband and I don't like sticking with tradition on most things.

When I was a kid,we often had seafood for Easter.
Our Buffett had whole lobsters, scallops, shrimp, clams, oysters, salmon and whatever else was in season.
It was served with baked potatoes, Mac and cheese, a huge salad with everything but the kitchen sink, brussel sprouts, corn..and lots of different desserts.
I could eat seafood for every holiday.
My family wouldn't care as long as I made homemade spaghetti, sauce and meatballs to go with it. My kids and grands want pasta as the first course.

@fairydogmother You just gave me an idea! Waffles with real maple syrup and butter and RASPBERRIES on top! For some reason that combination is one of my favorite ones ever!!!!!

You have to put them on the cookie sheet close together so they kinda bake into one slightly underbaked warm yummy-ness.
Oh my......
@GingerHead Now that just got my attention!!!! How about some Heath Bar chips in the cookies too and maybe some sea salt caramel ice cream? My current flavor favorite is caramel for some reason. . .

One year, we had hot dogs and chili for a x-mas meal. It was great!

@RedTop I Love it! After our family was down to the two of us and my mom, we quit the big Christmas Eve meal of a big ham and sandwiches and went with chicken and dumplings! Something we all liked and hardly ever had but was easy.

@Carmie I could eat seafood every day. I absolutely love shellfish! When we were on vacation at the shore I was in heaven! Some grouper bites at a seaside pier were one of the best things I ever ate!
And lobster right out of the water! OH my! Don't need butter--just lemon juice!

@Sooner LOVE your dessert idea but no Coca Cola! I'd need a glass of ice water with all that sugar! And I only drink Diet Coke but not with sweets. But love the idea you posted. I'd put caramel on anything!

Are you flirting with me right now? Haha...you do know I'm married don't you!
Yes, to all of that but only if you add caramel sauce over the top....
