I forgot to mention that they also did away with the area where they had potato salads, mac. salads, etc.  and other precooked items where you could pick meat  or poultry and  sides. That's progress, I guess.

I believe that was done due to covid precautions, although those salads went into big containers before.

My Wegman's in northern NJ is relatively new. About 3 years. No reorganization there yet.  This store has the liquor attached to one end, and it's techinically a seperate entity. Privately owned, but still accessible through Wegman's.

@Harpa Not sure what you mean by a state store?

Wegman's is my favorite store - but the prices on their fresh items like meat and fish are very high.

@NigelSparkles @Harpa  Our Wegmans is also in Northern NJ. The liquor store is attached at the end. Maybe it's the same store as yours@NigelSparkles. Can't sell liquor in NY grocery's or most NJ ones. Liquor stores are separate.

I'm also wondering why they thought our area needed all that wine & spirits?!

@Harpa

HEE!  Booze joint!  LOL

Thanks for the explanation, I had never heard the term before.

I don't buy a lot of liquor, but I think many ppl would love not to have to make another trip!

I know Wegman's is big on wines as they had many articles in their magazine.

They just can't sell it here!

The Wegmans here just added that kind of stuff back.  Like last week, I think.  Nice to see it, even though I don't buy it.

@KBEANS I had to do a double take of your post....thought I had written it!

I also have to go to a neighboring state to get to the closest one near me which is about half an hour away and have used the Disney World description when telling people about their prepared foods department! Smiley Happy

@NigelSparkles , yes I did edit your entire reply (it's available in it's entirety a few posts above - LOL); I agree about the meat prices.  I buy just frozen pre-packaged fish and family pack chicken (sometimes ground beef) at Wegmans.

 To get a nice beef roast or some pork chops at a "reasonable" price I shop at a different local store, and try to buy on "last day for sale" pricing (then I freeze, or prepare immediatey).

@Sweetbay magnolia  Totally agree about the frozen fish. Their salmon poritons are one of my favorites.

@KBEANS My description of Wegmans has always been the Disney of supermarkets. It's just the best!! Added bonus is that they treat their employees very well.
