Wegman's Chicken Recall

I know a lot of people shop at Wegman's and I just saw this on the news:

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Wegmans is recalling about 1,125 pounds of chicken it produced without getting the meat inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The chicken items were produced Jan. 3.

The problem was discovered by a federal inspector during a review of Wegmans' records. The USDA said an inspector found Wegmans changed its production schedule and produced the chicken products outside the approved hours of operation.

Although there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, the USDA classified the action as a Class 1 recall, the most serious type of recall.

Here's how the USDA defines a Class 1 recall:

"This is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."

The following products are subject to recall:

Approximately 1 pound vacuum-sealed packages containing "Wegmans Italian Flavored Chicken Breast Cutlet" with a use-by date of 1/24/2016.

Approximately 1 pound vacuum-sealed packages containing "Wegmans Brown Sugar Barbecue Seasoned Chicken Breast Cutlet" with a use-by date of 1/15/2016.

3 pound vacuum-sealed packages containing "Wegmans Garlic & Fennel Whole Chicken Roaster" with a use-by date of 1/13/2016.

The products bear establishment number "EST. or P-7567" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distribution and retail locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
