Wow!! Bravo!!

Definitely have cut down on portion sizes, and due to the high costs, we eat less meat, fish and chicken.

Our diet has changed over the years for certain. We are up in years and eat less than days of old. I no longer eat meat and have lost my taste for it. My DH, very little. We enjoy fish. We eat many salads and oven roast our veggies with good oils and spices. We enjoy fruit and take supplements, as well. My DH has an occasional glass of wine, while I am a total non-
drinker.

Like a few others posting here, our biggest change has been reducing the amount of processed foods we consume. We've always followed the "moderation in all things" school of thought because it is practical, relatively healthy, and less likely to leave us feeling deprived, leading to overconsumption or other bad habits. If someone wants a piece of frosted chocolate cake or an ice cream sundae or a couple of slices of pizza, substituting "diet" versions can be more detrimental (and is almost always far less satisfying) than just allowing the indulgence of a treat every now and then. I am also allergic to one of the major artificial sweeteners, and it is crazy how many things it is added to for no reason; label checking even just for that ingredient is taking an increasing amount of time when shopping nowadays.

Our habits have remained basically the same for decades...we eat what we want which is very simple whole foods. Only overt fat that we eat regularly is avocado and less so - nuts/seeds. No oil, salt, sugar, dairy/meat. IF daily before it was trendy, also incorporate fasting throughout the year. It's just our lifestyle that incorporates exercise as well. Don't consider it a diet, just a way of life....just routine.

We try to eat less processed foods. We rarely eat out anymore. I find that both of us eat less meat. I just think the meat has changed. We do eat beef, pork, chicken and fish. Love lots of veggies. I still eat sugar, in moderation. Typically, I would rather have one good, full fat, reg item in moderation. I do realize that many of you have found great substitutions.
We still eat lots of dairy. Neither one of us are on any meds. Many of you have made great changes, and glad you feel better. It’s key as we get older. Great job! I need some inspiration at times. Years ago I lost 30 lbs and have managed to keep it off. Sometimes I still fluctuate 2-3 lbs. I could still lose a few more.

I went low fat over 30 years ago, after my gastric bypass. I'm not obsessive about it
I just gradually developed a low fat lifestyle and I lost my taste for high fat foods. I also stopped eating red meat and now I can't tolerate it when other people eat thick steaks, prime rib etc in my presence. It's crazy. I'm working on eating more fruits and vegetables but also eating "the rainbow". Meaning fruits and vegetables in all the various colors for the nutritional benefits. I'd plan to do 2 meatless days a week. And then there's carbs. I'm not a carb eater but since my niece started cooking dinners, pasta and white rice and occasional biscuit has appeared on my plate. I have to get back to my whole grain pastas and brown rice.

I went low fat for many years, but now am mostly concerned about carbs. I use full fat items but sparingly.

Pretty much eat carb free now. It's done wonders for my figure and my health!
