I store Bisquick in the refrigerator. I use it infrequently, but years after the expiration date, it is still as good as new. And, never any bugs.

I mainly use it for a very old recipe, "Impossible Pie".

It is all done in a blender.

Love impossible pies. Crustless quiche is a favorite. No crust to deal with. Cocoanut and French apple pies are good too.

Ugh! That's icky.

I switched to Pioneer Buttermilk Baking Mix years ago. I find I like it better than Bisquick (hard to describe why, though).

Have to try that one.  Bisquick has too much salt in it anyway.

@Flatbush

Me too!  I still make Impossible Cheesburger Pie and that's the only thing I use Bisquick for.

I like the Lemon Impossible Pie.

So good.

I also keep mine in the refrigerator. A few years ago we had a horrible problem with pantry moths. They told us the eggs most likely came in with flour or something like that.

It was awful, and still is. Even after scrubbing and disinfecting pantry and cupboards I still find dead moths in the bottom of bowls! It creeps me out AND I have to prewash and check everything before I use it.

A while back I pulled out an economy size box of Hefty quart storage bags - brand new. There were larvae all over the inside! I took it outside to the garbage. The box had been in the pantry- that I had scrubbed down months before, so I checked the other boxes I had. They were all fine.

We have traps all over, and it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. So I have taken to refrigerating and freezing almost everything that's not in a can!    Smiley Frustrated

Re: Watch your Bisquick

@beach-mom

I had pantry moths about 20 years ago, and it was a horrible experience! We were on vacation for a week or so which gave them plenty of time to multiply. Came home, opened the pantry door, and they were all over.

 I did everything you did, but also got rid of every single cardboard container like your Hefty bags. Kept the contents, but repackaged in plastic bags or containers. They can lay eggs in the seams and flaps of cardboard and paper containers.  That's sometimes how they come into your house - eggs in the outer packaging of products.

Whew, weevils are a walk in the park compared to pantry moths!  I hope I never ever have to deal with them again.
