I have one that I've had for about 20 years .... Black and Decker. Makes great waffles.
One of my favorite things to make in it is French Toast Waffles.
Cut the bread to fit the waffle iron.
Prepare the bread as usual and let it sit a few minutes. Then put the slices in the waffle iron.

Which ever one you get,try making grilled cheese sandwiches in the waffle iron. We call them “ Grillees”. Delicious.

I have one of the vertical ones and I really like it. I make buttermilk waffles in it. If there is batter leftover and use it and freeze the waffles so I just have to place them in the toaster. The only down side I can think of is I am not sure how it would work if you wanted to add things to your waffles (like choc chips, nuts, bacon, etc.).

I did not know people ate waffles anymore. Interesting....

Not cheap, but the Breville Waffle Maker is excellent. I suggest you view the YouTube video to see why it's worth the money.

I have an old Toastmaster Speed Grill from the early 80's that looks like the pic below. Mine did not come with that square pan but several different removable plates. There is one for grilling, a griddle, waffles & pizzelle plates. I spray them with non stick cooking spray. We have made waffles in it many times. They come right out. You can use it open with both sides flat.

Why not? Because they're carbs? I tend to eat really healthy, but every once in a while I get a yen for waffles. I make them from a whole wheat waffle mix and tell myself that's healthy enough, ha ha. I use the George Forman with the removable plates that others have mentioned and find it makes a perfect waffle.
