I'm in the market for a waffle maker, I never owned one, my mother back in the day had a stainless steel one with no teflon coating, the waffles never came out good! I was looking at a Cusinart one that rotates, do I really need it to rotate? It seems most of the irons don't have removable plates you can wash, does it really matter?  I saw a couple of waffle makers that you fill vertically and can store that way, that way of cooking seems awkward to me. Does anyone have a waffle iron they like?

I have a Krups and I like it a lot.   It's one of those, also, that you put the batter in and then close it and turn it around.   I suppose you do need to do that, but I don't know the scientifics of it  Smiley Very Happy

Another thing I like about it is that it's rectangular, not round.  I don't quite  know why, but I don't want round.

I've probably had it for at least 15 years and it's still great.  Nonstick, too, of course.

My parents, the waffle king and queen, for years had Sunbeam waffle makers.  They were Teflon that were coated and they did stick, however, they always sprayed them with Pam which alleviated that problem.  Made 4 big, square waffles.  I think they all stick unless sprayed.

yeah, I've got one that makes 4 at a time and I always spray it.

light comes on and beeps when it's ready for the batter then squeaks again when they're done.

Husband hollers "birds chirping".  It's old , but, it's been a good one.

those that only make one at a time wouldn't work for me. He wants his food NOW and isn't waiting to eat 2-3 waffles I'd be getting up and down from the table 10 times to keep 'em coming.

Think mine is a Cuisinart, too. I'd check out Bed and Bath and take coupon with you. If don't have what you want have them to order for you and sent to your house.

Got one for a wedding gift years and years ago.  When Teflon was new, I think.  My first experience with it was a disaster.  Stuck so bad we couldn't eat the waffles.  I sprayed with Pam from then on.  (It's a wonder we stayed married.)

We have a GE that's quite old.  You do want Teflon and still just spritz a little spray.  The  griddle part should remove.  Fat can become rancid.  Not removing yours can result in a less than perfect taste.

@Jordan2 - After quite a bit of research, I bought the KRUPS GQ502D Adjustable Temperature Belgian Waffle Maker with Removable Plates on Amazon just over two years ago. Every waffle I've made has turned out perfectly! Highly recommended...

ETA: I use an oil mister to grease the plates; the aerosol canisters from the grocery store leave a residue and I like to avoid chemicals whenever possible.

I have an old cuisanart griddler with waffle plates and love it!  The plates can come out for cleaning.  I read on line somewhere that to clean a waffle iron, put a wet paper towel in it for a minute and then the stuck on food comes off.

I'll take a look at the Krups one. I saw a Hamilton Beach Waffle Maker that rotates and had removable plates that looks promising. It seems some of them don't have a temperature setting, I guess you cook it longer or shorter depending how you like them.

My husband doesn't like Belgians has to be the basic kind of waffle.

Belgians are too thick "like eating cake" hahahhaha  Hard to find the plain thickness waffle. Think I saw one at Bed & bath.

some of those concoctions they make on Q shows I wouldn't give to a dog.

Old burnt looking choc waffles with bunch of goo smeared all over them and cream cheese freaky looking stuff.

Just plain butter and Mrs. Butterworth for us and thank you
