I want to get a waffle maker, that will do more than make waffles.....like, cook hash browns or cook the canned cinnamon rolls, or maybe even let you put a cake/cookie batter in it, etc.

Do you think it would matter if I got a Belgian waffle maker vs. just a regular waffle maker?

I'd appreciate any comments about your experience with this.  Thanks for your input.

It sounds like the Cuisinart Griddler is what you're looking for. It has a reversible griddle/ grill plate configuration, and select models come with waffle plates. I get a lot of use from mine and the non-stick surface is holding up beautifully. All of the plates are dishwasher safe, but I hand wash mine.

Consider my self to be a pretty decent cook.  Love waffles so I bought my son and his wife the double sided ProWaring from Q. Needless to say I never say my DIL use it and thought she just didn't like it.

Long story short, I used it to make Waffles for the kids and it was a hugh mess. The Waffles split in the middle sometimes stuff poured out the side. It was a disaster. Stuff was stuck everywhere. They tasted good but I cleaned that thing up and put it way back in her cabinet just where she had it.

I went back and re-read your message....I think George Foreman may have what you're looking for. I remember last year he came out with a machine that bakes, roasts and also had grilling/griddle/waffle plates.

Cinnamon buns need to be surrounded by warm air to cook because of the thickness.  A wafflemaker or grill won't do that.

I have a round Chef's Choice waffle maker.  I just used it the other day to make hash browns using tator tots.  I defrosted 25 frozen tots then placed them in the waffle maker.  Cooked maybe 10 minutes or so, I just checked it until it was the golden brown color I wanted.  This made the best hash browns ever!

My parents were waffle gourmets.   Mom made her special,  complicated waffle batter a couple times a week.   They never had anything except a large Sunbeam waffle maker and used the stove to cook other things.

"Frozen" works for me (especially after last summer's "cereal bug" problem............).   No flour, sugar......nada......left in this house.

I have the George Foreman grill with the changeable plates and love to use the waffle plates.  I had never made waffles before in my life, but these come out great.  I use a whole wheat waffle mix (forgot the brand).  Does QVC still sell this GF grill?

The batter leaks out of the side if you put too much on the grids and the waffles split if you try and open the waffle maker before they are cooked. You should always just slowly try and open the waffle iron and if you feel any resistance then it's not ready yet. I don't have the waring pro one but it should have a light that comes on when the waffle is ready, which it judges by the temperature of the iron.
