My jaw dropped when I read this post. WOW is right! I love ITKWD but, TOILETS should NEVER be part of the line-up. I don't want to think about hineys when I am trying to decide which can opener, or french pastry to buy.

Today I decided to start inside holiday decorating.  Figured ITKWM was 4 hours would be good background "noise"...after 3 items & TSV I realized it was all food☹️ & TSV.

So I put my Bose on and enjoyed holiday music...Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett & Frank Sinatra helped me get in the holiday decorating mood...didn't get much done but enjoyed the music.  (Even took my mind off my 18 month old dryer died this morning😡😡😡- cant wait to see that bill!)

I can only assume tomorrow on ITKWD will be the same a "food frenzy"!!!  Considering only a few weeks before Christmas & delivery issues they've got to empty those freezers😉

Dryers usually last long time . It's the washers that don't last as long as a snowball.   Freezers, hold up pretty good. All my stuff goes belly up few wks after the warranty has expired if I have extended contract then whatever is wrong isn't covered.

Yes, it is scheduled to be a five-hour show. But since the TSV is an air fryer, you can plan on that taking up at least half the time, and they'll probably do a presentation or two of the QVC2 Big Deal on the Traeger, which could take another half hour (or more). So that really leaves just two hours for everything else—likely only six or seven more items based on the typical time allotted lately. Suuuper exciting.

(Seriously, it makes me sad and frustrated that what used to be a fun and interesting show has been reduced to multiple long presentations of the TSV plus dozens of other gadgets and food items we've seen 400 times. I watch for the content, not the host, so I'm finding myself tuning out more often than tuning in lately. Boo.)

Traeger $600.00....then add 400 pounds of meat at a time to smoke ( seriously...WATCH the show....who REALLY serves that much meat more than MAYBE once a year? For me, what they smoke in ONE show would last me a YEAR!!!!!)

I live alone. I use a "Charcoal chimney starter" ( about 15.00). When the coals get hot, I balance a grill on top of the smoker and make my steak. Takes less than 10 minutes to cook.

Gadgets needed: Charcoal chimney, regular charcoal briquests(NOT the vile lighter fluid soaked kind instant start)..., a few sheets of newspapers, a match, a 9 or 11" round grill surface (like what's on a Weber grill). A 12' x12" flat paver stone if you cant find a flat stone to use ( l live in a rural wooded area).

SO EASY!!! When you're done, tip out the used up charcoal dust into the garden, or just let it go out and fall out of the chimney onto the ground.

I set this contraption on a flat stone when I light it and use it. Hot and ready to grill in about 15 minutes.

Total cost...MAYBE 30.00. You can add  wet wood chips on top of the charcoal if you want wood flavor.

What do I grill? THe BEST cut of steak I can buy...because I didn't spend 600.00 on a contraption, and 1000.00 on the other 300 pounds of meat!!!!

ANd no electric needed either!!!!

This works SO WELL that I will not replace my gas grill, which is old, because the flavor is just not there. And, if the charcoal chimney deteriorates from using it like this, ( They recommend NOT cooking on top of it...because the same company sells grills maybe???), you can buy another one for about 15.00 which will last the season!!

I am SO done with gimmicks!!!!! And there's something really satisfying preparing food like this, outdoors, with the primitive smell of roasting meat on the breeze.....

I have friends who use that grill when they tailgate. Your system wouldn’t be practical for that application.

@Othereeeen Yes, the Traeger sounds to be more than you need living alone. But, for my family, we absolutely love it and it gets a ton of use. I can also say we've never spent  $1G on 300 lbs of meat, (they're demoing it for people so they show lots of options to the viewers thats why all the meat - surely you know this) nor do I know anyone who has that has one. It's not just a smoker. There's nothing gimmicky about the Traeger. It's not fair to make the comments about something thats not right for YOU, but is for others.

@Othereeeen You are confusing grilling with barbecuing.  Those two things are way different.

BBQ is a long term smoking most often at low temps.  It is food prep and for many a hobby we are serious about.  You can dig a pit and smoke, you can use a wood fired smoker, or you can get a green egg type cooker or a Traeger, and on and on and on.

LOTS of people enjoy it, and some even travel to compete in BBQ contests.  We don't do that, but when we smoke meat we do a lot of meat and share with friends then freeze the rest.

So there is a market for smokers and people who enjoy it.  It's fun and the product is amazing if you take the time to learn how to do it and get results.  It isn't about how cheap you can grill some meat to many of us.  We can go to those commercial bbq places now, but we are usually disappointed in their Q.
