I'm in So. Ca. and for many years the grocery stores offered either Kraft Mayo or Miracle Whip for the same sale price. Now, I only see Kraft Mayo offered for sale and Miracle Whip is aboout $4.00 for a 30 oz. jar. It now says it's the original recipe. This is crazy.
Here's a bit of trivia. I remember my Mom buying the 32 oz. jar of Miracle Whip for forty nine cents!

@WORKING GALDo you think maybe they don't sell all that much Miracle Whip? It's what I grew up calling mayonnaise, but I don't know anyone except me (and now you) who buys it. If we're kind of rare, that could explain why they don't bother to put it on sale.

I use it all the time in tuna, chicken, bean salad, etc.
Sometimes you see it a tad cheaper I got it from a Mexican Mkt for 1.99 had a buck off coupon with it. checked the exp. date it was grand bought 2 LOL
sometimes the Sun. circulars will have it showing up in the drug store ads little cheaper.

My husband grew up with Miracle Whip. So that is what he likes. I can not believe the price in the past year or so. But luckily our local Sam's Club started selling it. I haven't bought it in the grocery because of the cost, only at Sam's Club.
Well, about a month ago Miracle Whip was on clearance at Sam's. So sadly I will not be able to get it at Sam's Club.
In fact when you used to get the grocery weekly sale papers often if would have Kraft Mayo and Miracle Whip being on sale for the same price. Wonder if they are trying to phase Miracle Whip out.

There is a discount grocery store near me that sells Miracle Whip for $1.99 and they always have a ton of it.
This store sells overstock and products near it's expiration date.
Maybe your grocery store doesn't sell much of it and prices it higher to cover the losses if they have to dispose of it when It reaches it's expiration date.

WOW! $1.99! I think all the grocery's around me - if it is on sale it is $3.69 or something like that. I bet you are right about the expiration date. It is interesting watching the grocery crews going through shelves and shelves of food looking at the expiration dates and the huge pile of food to be thrown out.

I think Miracle Whip has a different flavor than regular mayonnaise.

My Mother in law told me mayonaise has eggs in it and Miracle whip doesn't.
Fine with me. LOL

Just purchased some using a coupon. I know it was less than $4, and there was another coupon on the jar lid. Cashier gave me credit for both so it was under $2 for my Miracle Whip.
