Just wanted to get some feedback on this item. I ordered the Vitamix TSV about a week ago and am having second thoughts about the model of machine. I have no doubt that I want a Vitamix and thought I wanted the variable speed model. But this value was too good to pass up. It was $399 and comes with dry container too. Now I'm just trying to make sure since it's probably going to be in my house for a long time. Anything I'm really missing out on by having the 2 speed? I'm hearing that the recipes are made for variable speed models, true? Also will the low speed suffice for chopping/mincing? I have practically run out of demos to watch and still not quite sure. Thanks for any advice!

tamitru32, I ordered a reconditioned vitamix with the variable speed. Have not recieved it yet but all the research I have done I believe you would like a variable speed. Alot of the recipes are for a variable speed. This is just my opinion.

Let me put it this way, I've been using a Vitamix for over 12 years now and there is just no way I would ever consider buying one that does not have variable speed control... I use that feature way too much to ever try getting along without it.
Two speeds cannot possibly take the place of infinite speed control. Oh sure, you can try various workarounds, but why go through all that when you can get a machine with variable speed control for less than the TSV?

Thank you all. I will be returning this one and getting either the 5200 or 6300. Want the dry grains container I think too, but will probably just get later. It will cost me the $10 return ship fee, but oh well. When I realized how long this will last just have to chose the right one. Also, it's been time to replace my mixer & food processor so I'm thinking a good purchase now will save $$ by not needing to buy those too. Thanks again!

tamitru32, lets us know what you get and how you like it. I am waiting on my 5200 reconditioned. I thought I would buy the dry mix container later too. Easypay day might be a good time lol.

Reconditioned 5200 in my kitchen!! No regrets at all....variable speed is invaluable for chopping!

Yes, I've had my Vitamix for years too and no way would I buy one without the variable speed. I love the 5200. I bought my dry container on Amazon a few years ago on sale for 107.00

Generally, dry containers can be picked up at either a Costco Road Show or at Fair demonstrations for 99.00.
Also, if buying a Vitamix directly from the company, ask about getting a discounted price for a dry container (or other container). I did that.

Me too! I had a hard time getting the TSV without the variable speed and ended up with the 5200 reconditioned. This article helped me http://gotgreensrevolution.com/vitamix-creations-turbo/
For $100 less I got the variable speed I wanted. Don't have too much interest in the dry container but will call Vitamix to see about a discounted price.
