Vintage Wine Estates O’Leary Spring Reserve. Good value?

[ Edited ]

 Hello,

Maybe you wine drinkers can help me out.   I saw his presentation on QVC today.

I drink Charle Shaw wines from Trader Joe’s.  $2-$2.50 per bottle.

O’Leary sells his Vintage Wine Estates O’Leary Spring Reserve  3 bottle set for $44, and 12 bottle set for $135 delivered to my door.

So, are his wines any good for the price?

Where is his winery, and is he the Wine Master?  Is that why he wears a medal around his neck?

I am wanting to serve some good wines with my Easter buffet.

Thank you.

@EatWell:  If you drink Charles Shaw why not go to Trader Joe's and ask their wine person for suggestiond.  Or go to Costco wine section and check out point ratings as they are listed.  Have no idea how "Mr Wonderfuls" wines are but shipping alone would preclude my buy iing it.  If you are in California the Costcos have especially good wines (I recommend Fess Parker "Big Easy" $25-$30 let bottle).

I've had the red blend, merlot (?) I believe and it's one of the best reds I've tasted.  My neighbor has  it auto delivered.  No idea where or who the vintner or vineyard are.  My all time fav red is center of effort red Pinot noir.  About $40-50 a bottle but a really nice wine.

I'm a wine drinker, especially red wines, and sometimes rose in the warmer months.  I tried his mixed selection last year, and gave them away.  My husband and I were not impressed, and we actually spilled the rose out.  It tasted like Koolaid to us.  Like most things, it's such a personal decision whether you like something. It can be taste, scent, visual, etc.  For us, O'Leary wines...  never again.

Why.........is he known as Mr. Wonderful?    I'm late getting to 'know' him - Shark Show - Wine and very wealthy.  Not a fan at all but where does this Mr. W come in?

I've read before his wine isn't any thing great.

We are seasoned wine drinkers and our opinion is it is kind of pricey (O'Leary's) and we would not even try it.   We get good deals from our local wine store with discounts for purchasing a case at a time and of course 0 shipping.   I would never pay shipping for wine when it is so available right where we live.   We drink an array of vintages from all over the world.  There is much better wine from other countries such as Italy, France, Spain and Chile.  While California wines are pricing themselves out of the market you can get some great wines for reasonable money from other places  and they are great quality.  I would never drink a wine that is $2.50 a bottle though.........Sorry but life is too short.

have to agree here

many stores close by, where I can get 1 bottle and see if I like it then stock up

There is an app I use Vivino, user rated wines, gives us an idea if it's something we want to buy or not,  worth having if you buy  a lot of wine

we are wine drinkers (lol, among other things....)

at just over $11 a bottle (at the $135 price yesterday) they are good basic wines.

anytime he is on i usually pick up the 12 bottle collection. each of us at home have our favorites. i think the chardonnay especially is quite good. my daughter and mother are each part of different wine societies and they have enjoyed the oleary wines also. are their better wines out there? of course, and you can spend a lot of money on them also. i really just depends on what you are looking for. we spend more than that on wines, we have spent less than that on a few wines.

nice to have on hand for guests or for gift giving. they generally always spark a conversation about kevin or shark tank when they find out.
