Vidalia Onions Perish in Truck Crash

[ Edited ]

What a waste of good onions !!  At least it means that Vidalias must be coming to stores soon.

From yesterday's Atlanta newspaper:

<<A busy Gwinnett County road was shut down for hours Saturday after a tractor-trailer carrying a load of Vidalia onions crashed into another truck and caught fire, police said.

The wreck occurred about 10:40 a.m. on Ga. 316 near Buford Drive, Lawrenceville police spokesman Officer Christopher Carey said.

When police arrived, the tractor-trailer carrying the onions was engulfed in flames, destroying the truck’s cab and trailer. The other truck involved in the crash was hauling a bulldozer on a flatbed trailer, police said.

All lanes have since reopened, but Georgia Dept. of Transportation workers are still cleaning up onions and debris from the crash.>>

The headline was my creation, and I too thought it might be amusing.  What amuses me even more, though, is the vision of Dept. of Transportation workers hard at work  cleaning up onions off the road.

I wonder if they were cooked enough to qualify as "caramelized" and whether any were in good enough condition to be rescued  and taken home by the cleanup crew.

LOL!

I don't care, as long as it wasn't toilet paper.

That's too bad🙁. I would not want to have been the workers cleaning up an entire trailer of ONIONS.😁
