Re: Unhealthy Stouffers Lasagna

I think Stouffers makes very tasty frozen dinners.  I don't have them often, but on occasion they are fine with me.

I thought when someone asked about this item being on QVC it was meant to be funny.  Has anyone really looked at the nutritional value of 1 cup?  990 mg of sodium, 65 mg of cholesterol, 26 grams of carbohydrates and 18 grams of fat (1 transfat) doesn't meet my criteria of "healthy".  Did anyone notice that Alberti never took a bite and wasn't very enthusiastic about it either?  I don't buy any Stouffer's frozen foods because of the ingredients and the nutritional information. Bad decision on QVC's part to offer this.

I watched the presentation and Alberti did take a bite of it.  Not sure where you got that he "never took a bite."

So if you don't watch accurately and post accurately, then I don't take you seriously.

Re: Unhealthy Stouffers Lasagna

I thought the same thing @Whitney400 .  That it was a joke. A frozen entree that you can get at your local grocery store for most likely less money.  Unhealthy is the correct word.  My husband has to watch his sodium intake and this is just over the top. Not that he would eat that even if he did not have to watch how much salt he takes in.

We eat as little processed food as possible. Have always been that way. Both my husband and I love to cook and bake. We can, dehydrate and freeze food which we like doing also. We like knowing the real ingredients that go into our food.  We care about what our family eats.

A frozen Stouffers entree would not make me dig out my wallet.  But my sister likes it and purchases it so I guess we evened out on that score.

I agree, @Foxxee. Sometimes I want Swedish Meatballs but don't want to make them. Everything in moderation.

Re: Unhealthy Stouffers Lasagna

It is very unhealthy.  That amount of sodium is almost a third of a days recommended allowance.  But I have eaten and enjoyed some Stouffers in my day.  Mostly when I was in rush or just got dumped or something.  LOL It's cheap, easy, comfort food.

And also agree-- sounded like a joke at first.  I mean really they sell Stouffers at my local Walgreens and CVS.  Probably at bigger gas stations, too.  You might be able to microwave it there.  LOL  Now that would be convenient.  :=)

Re: Unhealthy Stouffers Lasagna

Weird. The package I have in my freezer lists a one cup serving as 290 calories with 600 mg sodium. I don’t expect a frozen meal to be particularly healthy, but it’s not terrible. With a tossed salad, it’s a much more sensible meal than take out on a busy evening.

Re: Unhealthy Stouffers Lasagna

What is QVC selling something anyone can go to a grocery store and buy for much less money?

I went to a luncheon at the home of a billionaire many years ago with a group of book club friends. It was in the main home and we were served with Limoges teacups and Waterford water goblets. The servers brought us a beautiful salad and then neatly cut squares of lasagna with fresh Parmesan curls on top. We all thought we were living large and were so impressed. When the kitchen door swung open later, I saw four big Stouffers Lasagna boxes on the counter. If it's good enough for them to serve, it must not be too bad. Still seems like an odd item to sell on Q.

Also not sure why you would say Alberti wasn't enthusiastic, he went on and on about how good the meat tasted and how good a mouth feel it had, he went on and on....dont tell a blatant lie.

@Trailrun23   Omg.....that is rich (pun intended) that this Billionaire was serving Stouffers.  When you mention you saw the boxes in the kitchen when the door swung open, it reminds me of when the curtain was pulled back on The Wizard of Oz.  LOL.

I would give everything I own just to have you back again.......David Gates of Bread
