It could be your local UPS requiring this as a result of high losses due to stolen deliveries in your area. I would call your local UPS hub and ask.

Yes. I had a driver once tell me it's the drivers choice to leave it unattended or require a signature, because they are responsible for it.

Hi, kachina624! I have to agree with you about FedEx. Though they generally do a good job, our occasional delivery problems usually have involved FedEx. And their company's response to complaints is lackluster.

Re: UPS requiring signature on QVC package?

I had a new driver over the holidays and he insisted that I had to sign for the packages from QVC even though I never had to before. I called the Q and they told me that no signature was required when they send out packages. When my usual driver came back my packages were left at the door again.

I can't really explain what is going on but I would say the problem is with UPS rather than the Q.

Re: UPS requiring signature on QVC package?

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I get many packages from Q and usually don't have to sign for anything except computers, but all of a sudden some Bare Minerals came with a signature required. Of course I am not home so this was a real pain in the back end. Someone at the Q had marked it as such and I called CS and they put something on my account indicating that I do not need signature. Sometimes things just happen.

Re: UPS requiring signature on QVC package?

Maybe the whole area had an unusual amount of packages disappearing. I live in the middle of a 2 acre lot so I never have to sign unless it's something the company requires it. And that's something expensive.

I've gotten the neighbor's stuff and my stuff has been delivered down the street before. One time they actually opened my stuff and put it away. LOL didn't even look at the label. I still never had to start signing. I called them up pretty ticked off too.

You must of had a recent claim that UPS put you on an automatic signature required status. Good luck getting yourself off of that because that doesn't come easy at all. It took me a minimum of 3 years due to a lost HSN package but found 2 years later after the bushes were cut down.

Could that be the case?

I had a similar thing happen several years ago - it was either here or hsn, a package didn't arrive. Once I reported it to cs they started having me sign for packages! A pain- yes. But it protected my delivery from sticky fingers.

Re: UPS requiring signature on QVC package?

Thanks for all of the replies. I have not had any claims either with QVC or UPS. However, after Christmas a woman called me from UPS saying a package was mistakenly left at my house (meant for another address.) I told her that I never received a package like that. So I wonder if their mistake has put my house on the "signature" list. Really frustrating since I did all of my Christmas shopping online this year and had dozens of things delivered to my house with no problems.

Well, today even though I signed the slip and left it on the door the driver did not leave it. He wrote on there that he would leave it but they wouldn't let him. They don't deliver on Saturdays and I would miss the package again on Monday.

I checked out what UPS is advertising (and someone mentioned earlier) about signing up for the service to change delivery but this would only let me choose another delivery day and then you had to pay $5 or for $5 you could have it sent to another address. In order for me to be able to specify the delivery time (I am not home until about 5:00) I would have to upgrade to a $40 a year program.

So I ended up selecting to pick up the package at their warehouse which is about 35-40 minutes from my house. I thought I would have to wait until next week but they called and said I could come between 7 and 7:30 tonight so I went ahead and picked it up.

Sorry for rambling it is just very frustrating to me and it has been one of those weeks!

I got 2 of the utensil holders from Temptations. One is a gift the other for me. The gift one is fine but the one for me is very smeared looking (dark spot) on one side. I would send it back but don't know if it is worth it for the shipping and dealing with UPS again, so I will probably just turn the bad side towards the wall and be done with it!

Oh, my birthday is this week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed no one sends me a gift through UPS!

That's just bizarre, did you ask them about it when you picked up your package?

Re: UPS requiring signature on QVC package?

It might be the area or the total price of the item or something you are not even aware of. I find things at my door. I use a tracking and I am aware when something will show up. But so far, no signature for anything I buy. Of course on Ebay the US postal service has to have a signature for everything coming from another country. I often order a small item from other places in the world and it might be even under 10 dollars and I still have to sign. Very annoying but I am sure it cuts down on claims.

A few years back we had a postal worker stealing packages from QVC at our main post office. She was arrested. What was happening was she was cutting open the envelopes or small boxes and then taping them back up. So many complaints.

You can only imagine the con games being played from either package theft to package opening thefts to customers playing a "I did not get that" game. So perhaps this might be the trend to sign for everything in the future.

Re: UPS requiring signature on QVC package?

My experience is that most of the time if you sign the back of the slip, they will leave it. Usually, of it really HAS to have a signature, it will say so in the product info, I.e. Someone over 18 must be there to accept, usually for large items like furniture, or very expensive items.
