Saw these the other day on the Q. They are biscotti. They are twice baked. My Mom called them "toasts".

A staple in my pantry:  Nonna's chocolate dipped biscotti.  I got them at Giant until I found the huge container at BJ's.

I love them because they aren't so hard that they cut the gums or break a tooth.  No need to dunk, just enjoy.

I make several different kinds.  I like the almond anise ones the best.  They are a dunker.  They are delicious dunked in wine.  My grandparents were from Italy and lived in  the  Italian community of a small town and dunking them in wine was how they ate them.  They have become Americanized with chocolate and glaze which makes them too sweet though.

My husband makes them for himself and for other members of the family. My mother is always thrilled when she sees that she is the recipient of his homemade biscotti. He has a recipe that goes back a few generations.

My favorite are the Nonni's Mini Almond Biscotti, loaded with almonds, at BJ's in the big clear tub.  My local BJ's has not been carrying them for the past year & perhaps BJ's is not carrying them at all at any location going forward.  I really love them.  I finally broke down last week & got the chocolate dipped ones but I'd rather have the Mini Almond Biscotti.

I bake biscotti...easy to make and also Friselle...which is twice baked bread.

Both are staples in my Italian kitchen.

I baked them and they are always in the cookie jar - lasts a real long time and if it gets too hard - dunkers

a friend visited and eyeballed the filled jar and said - you aren't going to offer me some?

I said they were from a few weeks ago - she still took them and munched in the car

when she left - said it was hard at all

i only offer fresh baked ones to friends - she has had them before and wanted them anyway

favorite - almond cranberry
