Turkey Question

Any one here who can tell me how long a turkey can stay in the freezer? We have 2 16 lb birds taking up space from last year or 2 years ago ..dh got them from work at holidays. We meant to use them for company/holidays but never did..........I can not eat it as I am allergic, but I would cook it for him and give some to sister and neighbors etc...........but is it worth the trouble to thaw and cook or should I assume they are bad and get rid of them? Need to clean the freezer out. Checked internet and got different answers...not sure what to trust.
