Re: Turkey Issues in Your State? Please List

For many years I have been buying fresh organic , not frozen turkeys....I have in the past (long ago) gotten a free turkey if I spent a certain amount at the supermarket.

So now I don't get my turkey from the supermarket but from a local organic farm or grocer.  There are several farms/markets near me with signs out about ordering your turkey now.  I can think of at least four nearby. I really don't know the cost per pound (it's not cheap) but they are still plentiful in Bucks Co., PA

having a bit of difficulty finding 20+ pound turkeys.

purchased an 18.5 pound butterball just in case.

it cost about $44 at shoprite.

it is currently in the freezer, so if i can find a 20+ pound we will use that.

it HAS to be a butterball.

maryland area.

we also eat a pork and sauerkraut as an extra protein/side.

@sunshine45  Come on down to So. Joisey.  You can trap a wild 20 pounder & take to the butcher shop.  They will kill, defeather & package it all for ya!  That is if you don't want to do it all yourself. whistling.gif

@Mz iMac Too funny!  We've also had crazy wild turkeys right on my street!

No turkey shortage here in my area. So. Maine/NH. As I replied on another post, we were shopping at BJ's a few days ago. Full case of frozen turkeys.   .99cents lb. If you spend a certain amount there the turkey is free.

ETA...Just checked this week's grocery flyers. Our in town grocery store chain has turkeys for .47 cents lb. Surrounding town grocery chains are in the .90cents lb., and in abundent supply.
