Re: Turkey Issues in Your State? Please List

In PA here.  Got our free turkey with a $500.00 accrued purchase.   The price on the tag was $34.00 for 17 lbs.

@Lucky Charm

I have organic free range turkeys in my yard and plenty to choose from. You’re welcome to them.

Just checked WM and Meijer (big box grocery) here in Northern MI.

Butterball frozen $1.18 and $1.29 respectively

Meijer store brand $.55 cents per lb.

Butterball had been $3.47/lb when the "shortages" news story broke.

So much for "run, go get it now shortages".

South Eastern PA here.  There was not a lot to choose from.  Most brands at the supermarket were names that I never heard of before, they were lower than what I think is average cost.  Got the idea that the store sourced these turkeys from wherever they could find them because of the shortage. Other than that, there were a few Jenny O's and a few Empires.  Got the Empire at 4.49 / lb.   High, but oh well, its only once a year and its worth it because we all like it.

Re: Turkey Issues in Your State? Please List

having a bit of difficulty finding 20+ pound turkeys.

purchased an 18.5 pound butterball just in case.

it cost about $44 at shoprite.

it is currently in the freezer, so if i can find a 20+ pound we will use that.

it HAS to be a butterball.

maryland area.

we also eat a pork and sauerkraut as an extra protein/side.

@sunshine45  Come on down to So. Joisey.  You can trap a wild 20 pounder & take to the butcher shop.  They will kill, defeather & package it all for ya!  That is if you don't want to do it all yourself. whistling.gif

lol Yes, but just spend $150 (on stuff you don't need) and you get one for free! (while supplies last).

I dunno, but if I'm need a turkey for Thanksgiving, it's probably not a stretch that I need $150 of other components of my meal.

NW Indiana

I went to my usual Aldi early in the week, they were selling frozen Butterballs under $1.00/lb, but the freezer case was empty.  I went to Meijer and got one for $1.29/lb.   I was at a different Aldi on Wednesday and they had them.  Oh well.  🤷‍♀️  I'm just glad I got one since I've read that there could be a turkey shortage.
