Just thought I'd mention what I just discovered yesterday that when I would put my baby carrots in locknlocks, after a while they were slimy.  I put them in my Tupperware container, the tall blue ones, older than the hills, and they were just as fresh as when I first put them in there, and it was weeks.

Also locknlocks keep breaking tabs. I'm so glad I saved a bunch of my Tupperware thru all these years.

I keep raw baby carrots in my LnL and they've never turned slimy.

Re: Tupperware verses Locknlock

Kinda off topic, I have found if I put a dry paper towel in with my carrots (other fruits and vegetables too) it helps to keep the slime away.

If you're not paying attention at the store, you will pick up bags of baby carrots that are already slimy.  This product is packaged and sits in cold storage for lengthy periods of time.

@RedTop They are peeled pieces of big carrots so with the protective skin gone they go bad quicker.  Buy bigger carrots and peel as needed! Woman Very Happy

Re: Tupperware verses Locknlock

My question is how long are you leaving them in lnl vs tupperware. You simply say after a while they were slimy in lnl. I have also found that due to the way baby carrots are pacakaged you have to eat them sooner rather than later no matter what you store them in.

Brought years ago from HSN Debbie Myers Green Boxes and to this day my produce stays fresh for quite a long time in them.

Re: Tupperware verses Locknlock

@gloriajean Thanks for your input but I think it depended on the freshness of your carrots, not the plastic they were in.

Both LocknLock and Tupperware are made of

  • BPA-free
  • Air- and water-tight
  • Polypropylene bodies
  • Refrigerator-, freezer-, microwave-, and dishwasher-safe

I think it's more of a personal choice, what kind of lids you like best and hold up well.
