I got eggs at Costco yesterday. They were 6.69 for the two dozen Free Range Brown eggs. I understand why they have to limit it to two cartons, but I also feel bad for those with large families.

My local grocery store had a daily special the other day for a dozen eggs for 1.49. I bought three cartons, but there was plenty to go around. They didn't limit the purchase.

 I am in CT  and was at BJs yesterday.  They had a sign that because of a shortage -- eggs were limited to 2 cartons.

@ValuSkr

75¢ of eggs will keep you from making brownies?

@scatcat   Yes, it will.  Smiley Sad  It's the only thing I use eggs in.  The rest will sit in the fridge past their expiration and end up in the trash.  So, the cost is effectively more than $0.75.

@ValuSkr     May I kindly suggest you make more brownies and freeze them to use up your eggs... Cat Happy

Plus, I use the free range organic eggs well past the exp. dates.  Not a problem.

@kindred cats   Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, my freezer is routinely stuffed to the gills.  And I always use food well past the expiration date; last week I opened a carton of Silk Oat Milk with an expiration date of 5/22/2022.  For eggs, I use the float test; the date on the carton is only a suggestion.

Wow.  I'm the exact opposite.  I don't want to invite trouble.  I either use it by the expiration date or get rid of it.

Paid $2.49 for a dozen eggs at Aldi last week.

The posted limit was two cartons per customer.

As for shelf life of eggs, I've read numerous times that eggs are good for as many as two weeks or more after the sell date on the carton.

@drizzellla This week Walmart has 18 count for $2.26 and 12 for $1.52, but their eggs are always a great price in comparison to other stores.😊
