Just a guess but it may also to keep retailers or owners of any kind of food service from buying the lot.

Excellent point.

I was in Sam's during the beginning of the supply chain/Covid troubles. And the Manager of the Meat Department was upset. Apparently because there was no sign limiting how many packages of chicken you could buy, Sam's was being cleaned out. A guy had filled a flat bed cart with about 12 cases of Perdue boneless breast of chicken.

Weeks after that there was a sign limiting the purchase to 2 packages.

@drizzellla This week Walmart has 18 count for $2.26 and 12 for $1.52, but their eggs are always a great price in comparison to other stores.😊

WOW!

I will remember that next time I am shopping for eggs. That is a great price.

Yesterday I went to a Sam's Club. I saw a lady checking out. She had about 10 containers of eggs in her cart. That is all she was buying. They were 2 - 24 eggs in each container.

Struck me that Costco is limiting the number you can buy to 2 containers. Quite a contrast to the 2 stores.

I make 2 spinach quiche and 5-6 pumpkin pies; I give some away.  I use a lot of eggs!
