Tres Leches Chocolate Cake Recipe

I love Tara's new cookbook and tried my second recipe from it today. The Tres Leche Cake, either I did something wrong or there is an ingredient missing. The batter was very thick and it turned out more like a brownie than a cake. When I added the final milk mixture of Chocolate and condensed milk, it didn't absorb it very well. What a mess! Has anyone made this cake from her cookbook and did it turn out well? I have read and reread the receipe and can't find where I went wrong. Help!
