Trader Joe's - never been there - am I missing out?

I've heard lots of talk about it and have seen the name many times, but never saw one in person until I was in the Twin Cities this past week. Is it strictly a grocery store like any other or is it something special? Am I missing out by not ever going there? If there is something special about them, I may swing by next time I'm in the area. Any input from your perspective?
