Re: Trader Joe's brined turkey?

Thank you to the OP.  I'm cooking TDay for the first time in about 25 years.  It's been panic time.  I was very glad to read this post and get everyone's advice.  I'm off to Trader Joe's to get my brined turkey.  Was glad to read that it should be rinsed well before cooking.  Any other suggestions are welcome.  Olive oil or butter on the skin?

Re: Trader Joe's brined turkey?

You can cook the TJ brined turkey in the same manner you cook any other turkey- whatever pleases you.

Last time I cooked a turkey, I used the method of wrapping it in buttered cheesecloth (you can find it online). WOW.....that was the most perfect turkey I've ever made! Use a doubled layer of cheesecloth.

Remember to remove the turkey from the fridge 1-2 hours before cooking so it can come to room temp. Insert a thermometer at thickest part of thigh....cook until thigh reads 165 degrees....& breast reads 180 degrees. Don't touch the thermometer to any bone- it will give a hotter reading.

Allow turkey to rest 20-30 minutes before slicing.
