I have always prepared rice, instead of buying it, but having been without a kitchen for over five months, I discovered Trader Joe's brown rice in the freezer section. A box has three packets. Out one packet into the microwave and three minutes later, you have perfectly cooked brown rice. There are other types of rice also, but I cook this rice, and add whatever I want to it for salads or side dishes, just love it. the bottled herbs are so inexpensive, you won't believe it. I don't go often, but when I do, I stock up.

Thanks for mentioning this, mousiegirl! I'm going to get those bags to have around. I like to use leftover salmon or chicken over a little rice, and add vegetables to it for a quick lunch. Sometimes I add chopped ginger, sliced green onions and a little soy sauce for an Asian flair, but I don't always have rice ready, so this would be great Smile

There are two, both in green boxes ... the organic is better.

The Revelation wines from France are good (Chardonnay, or Cabernet/Merlot blend).

The Charles Shaw wines (aka Two Buck Chuck) are better than you'd expect.

Coconut Body Butter is yummy.

I have never cooked pork belly. What do you make with it.

The pork belly at Trader Joe's is cooked. You just need to heat it up and eat.

I add mine to my beans. Just a few slices, and DH devours the rest out of the pan.

It's a thick layer of loin, topped with a thin layer of pork fat and topped with canadian bacon.

It is the food of the gods! I buy two packages.

It makes GREAT BLT sandwiches too!

Fire roasted frozen corn was really good.

I got a bag of frozen figs, take them out one at a time and eat while still slightly frozen. They are sweet and full of fiber too - I hope one cancels out the other!

Re: Trader Joe's This Sunday

There are lots of my favorites mentioned here. I also love their spice mix, "21 Season Salute". It's a mixture of several dried spices. I think it might have Cayenne in it, because it has a bit of a kick. I used it when roasting root vegetables and on top of salads. I'm not much of a wine drinker, unless it has bubbles. I buy Zonin Prosecco there. It's decent..not too sweet and is well-priced at $6.99 here in Southern CA. One of a newer items I like is a bagged mix of shredded kale, Brussels sprouts and another vegetable (can't recall) that I use in salads. My other favorite is the Fat Free Balsamic salad dressing. It's little on the sweet side, but I'm on the WW Simply Filling plan and it is a huge help.

No problem! Funky Hula Girl started the exam same thread a few months ago, I think. This and Costco never get old!

I buy the Smoked Spanish Paprika and the Everyday Seasoning in the grinder. The Garlic Salt was disappointing; I'm returning it.

Herbs and spices, I get from Penzeys.

I love the Comte cheese. I'm glad they carry it here.

What wines do you recommend? I'm buying a case of the TJ Coastal chardonnay.

If you're a Penzey girl, their Smoked Spanish Paprika is better than TJ's.

I buy TJ's chocolate bark for Christmas baking (it's a huge slab of Ghirardelli's chocolate).

Raw almonds for nut brittles....they freeze well and they're really good.

Virgin and extra virgin olive oil; it's the only olive oil I use anymore

Their rice blends are wonderful. They used to carry a rice trilogy that was so good, but last time I checked, I couldn't find it.

Fontiago cheese, if you can find it. It's a cross between fontina and asiago. So good! Actually, all their cheeses are quite good. They had a smoked Gouda the last time I was there. Yum!

Vodka sauce

Pumpkin butter (tastes kind of like apple butter, but better)

DH loves their mini peanut butter cups!

Frozen artichoke hearts (it's the only place around here that carries frozen hearts and canned artichoke hearts are simply disgusting)

Frozen edamame

Thanks Noel!

I should preface: When I lived in LA, Trader Joes was my corner store. I'm a long time shopper, but always love to hear what others get.

Edited to make my list.

Frozen Roasted Corn

Frozen Asparagus

Frozen Grilled Peppers and Onions

Chicken Goya

Pork Belly

K Cups

Kale

European butter

Half and half

Coffee rub

DC Peanut butter cups (?)

Shrimp Gyoza

Scallion Pancakes

Olive Oil cooking spray

Mozzarella and basil

Jalapeno tarter sauce

Dark chocolate ginger

Revelation Cabernet

I was watching Cooks Corner on PBS and they did a survey on spray oil containers. You may want to consider purchasing olive oil in the bottle and transferring the oil to a spraying. The device they rated - cannot remember the name - has a white top and a clear bottom - so you can see how much oil you have on hand.

I do not know if you like nuts but they a great price on shelled salted cashews. They also have pre-packaged trail mix type snacks. I need those prepackaged items because I lack self-control.

I was glad you knew about the k-cups.

How about pot-stickers, turkey meat balls, no-flour chocolate cake, New York Cheese cake ....
