@TaylorBrown Not for me. I toast the bread and honestly eat it so fast there is no time for it to get soggy! I LOVE a tomato sandwich (or a summertime BLT)

@TaylorBrown wrote:I have never had a tomato sandwich. Dumb question maybe, but, does the bread get soggy? That's why I won't try one.
@TaylorBrown : No, mine never get soggy because they are eaten long before that would happen LOL. Love tomato sandwiches with white bread (only buy in summer time), thick slices of tomatoes, Duke's mayonnaise and sea salt. Yum!!!

@DottieD OMG! You are pulling at my heart strings!
I don't say this flippantly (and please note that I've never said this to another living soul)...but..but..
If I lived near you...I'd give you one of my tomatoes...(there...I said it).
Actually, my friend drove all the way over to my house (all the way about 1 block) and brought me about 10 more tomatoes....
Where upon I ate another madder sandwich and 1/2...then 2 hours later I cut one up and put Olive Garden salad dressing on it. (You guys should try it...very excellent) two words that look overdone together...but I really mean it people!!
OK, I haven't eaten breakfast yet...I'm thinkin' ..... yepper...you guessed it..madder sandwich.
My daughter keeps saying, "Mom! You're going to get blisters in your mouth". (She's referring to the acid in the tomatoes).
My friend said so far he's canned (in bottles) almost 70 jars of JUST tomato sauces...
He explained the process to me. He puts the tomatoes (3 at a time) into boiling water for about 1 minute. That makes it easy to peel the skin off of the tomato so you can can it.
He said he must be extremely careful not to can one (tomato) with any black spots because that would mess up that canned sauce. (All of you caners can explain that one..?).
Keep in mind this guy isn't in great health. I adore him. He reminds me of my Grandma and Dad's family.
My family on my Father's side were all 'country people'. They lived in rural (at the time) Va. Remember, I told you guys how I'd (me being a 'city girl') have to go with my Grandma and Aunt to the country (all of about 40-50) miles every summer for 1 week to visit... Remember how I told you guys I'd come home after 1 week of not going number 2 so constipated ...(OK I'm getting a bit graphic here) (I'm hiding it in this l-o-n-g paragraph) so constipated it was necessary to use dynamite to take care of THAT problem.
I've drifted off subject again....(sorry to those who seem angered by me doing this..but to those I say..."When you see it's my post...IGNORE and move on".
I did mention that the 'country relatives' all used out houses...didn't I?
I won't go on about the things I learned during my 1 week (VACATION????). For years I never envied my friends when they said they were going on 'vacation' because as far as I knew...it meant 'out houses'...
Had to pause for a minute...the world stopped...my daughter went nuts because she saw a bug...I didn't kill it..it was what we used to call 'a thousand-legger' (silverfish) It got away under the rug...coming in from the boxes she's bringing in from the garage I guess.
Gotta go...the tomatoes are calling me.
Please...for all that's holey (sp) find yourself a 'home-grown' tomato and eat a madder sandwich...you'll hear the angels sing!

Love a mater sandwich. I finally got a ripened one before the devil squirrels did .
I generally blanch the tomato , peel it , and shake a few of the seeds out , slice it thick , with a generous serving of Mayo (calories be darned ) and place it on sometimes toasted ,sometimes not low carb ww bread. -- delicious!

We plant tomatoes every year for the past four years. We've had 2 really good years and 2 so-so years. this year has been so so. My husband was talking to our neighbor and he plants them too and he said his were just so so too. I like BLT's with fresh tomoato. Eat them all summer long. I also enjoy sliced tomatoe with a slice of fresh mozzerella and a little bit of glaze balsamic vinegar. YUM!
