He was releasing the steam off and on for quite a while but I guess they were rushing him to show the finished product. He just yanked off the lid too soon.  It was user error and not the pressure cooker at all.

I finally donated my never used Cooks Essential pressure cooker.  I was always afraid to use it, so finally said "Who am I kidding?" I'm never going to use the thing.  My mom used one all the time, so I don't know why I was scared - but oh well.
