Re: Today's TSV Pressure Cooker

Keep an eye on Amazon because they have occasional great sale prices on the Instant Pot.  If you don't want to wait, join some facebook Instant Pot groups and look for the coupon codes they share to order from the IP website.  Some foodie bloggers that love the IP also have coupon codes.  Hope you love it and enjoy it just as much as I do!!!

Thanks for the Insta-Pot feedback. I'm leaning towards that one because of the stainless steel pot. It is good to know the 6qt is a good size for one.

My original PC was a CE.  I couldn't believe the difference in the quality of the food I cook in the InstantPot.  Same recipes, same quality of ingredients.  Just much better results and it comes with all sorts of helpful items like a rack for the bottom of the pot.  Could not speak more highly of the InstantPot and as others have said, I got mine at Amazon during one of their Lightning Deals.  Keep an eye on those everyday and you could score a well priced one there .

I have an Elite 8qt that I love. Do any of you own the smaller 4qt/5qt and find it to have any benefits over a larger one?

I originally bought a CE 4 quart PC and to tell you the truth, it was kind of small to cook much of anything really.  A lot of the meat that I went to cook had to be trimmed down to fit.

I upgraded to a 6 quart InstantPot over a year ago and never looked back.  Things fit much better in it (and I cook for one).  Had I had thought it through at the time, I would have purchased a 6 quart from the begininning.

I was watching the presentation of the 4 quart one on HSN earlier and it seemed like the perfect size for one person.  Was it really too small?

It would depend on what you are looking to cook in there on a regular basis.

If you are a pasta, veggies, maybe chicken breast or pork chop/loin person, the 4 quart is more than fine if cooking for one or two people.

I was trying to make pulled pork in mine for a group of friends and even though I asked for a smaller piece of pork I still had to cut a lot away as it just didn't fit in the pot.  Once I bought the larger InstantPot, I realized I could still cook for one but also had room if I wanted to try something a little larger.

I am hoping to find a small turkey breast to make in there for myself for Thanksgiving.  Trader Joe's have nice, small ones and I'm going to try that this time around.

Funny story though, based on this I bought a six quart slow cooker which is sitting on my shelf untouched.  I use the tiny slow cooker I bought for a hot dip for a party and use that at least once a week . . . go figure!

Thanks, that was very helpful.  Yes, I would say I would use it more for chicken breast/pork loin vs large cuts of meat like brisket or roasts.  Might consider a whole small chicken but I did see it used for that.  I would love to hear how the turkey breast from TJ's works in it.

I have very limited space in my kitchen and while these pressure cooker/slow cookers look so appealing, I really don't have room for one.  So if it wasn't something I was going to use often, I would probably hold off on getting it now, but I'm going to think about it.
