Hi Ladies! Thanks so much for your input. I thought I was doing something wrong or that my microwave was bust.

I usually cooked the oatmeal (not instant) in a ceramic soup bowl and it always worked. Did it again today and it works just fine.

The mugs are about 22 oz capacity and I only use 1/4 cut oatmeal, 1 tablespoon ground cashew nuts, 1 tablespoon goji berries, and a little more than 1/2 cup almond milk. Cook it for 1.45 minutes, take the container out, stir, and cook for another 2.14 minutes. Is perfect when done. So, it's strange that the oatmeal cooks over in the sistema mug, but I can always use my ceramic mug.

I guess I can use the mug to steam things and reheat other food and try some of the recipes listed.

Southern Bee, I may try spraying the mug with oil if I try it again, but the ceramic works well without spraying.

Try throwing a handful of fresh spinach on top...covering the entire top, No taste, starts your day off w/ greens & literally, you can walk away for 2 minutes w/out boiling over.

Surely you jest! Who would want to face a mess like that first thing (or later) in the morning.

Nope...no mess. It's 'science'! Cool, refrigerated fresh greens atop a heated mass will insulate the heat, therefore no boil overs. By the time the oatmeal is cooked, the spinach is wilted....breakfast is served!
