I love my Ninja too and use it several times a week.  It's especially great in the warm weather as it doesn't heat your kitchen up like your oven does.

They probably all have similar features by now, but just make sure it has a WARM setting, so you can keep mashed potatoes hot while making other sides for your holiday meals. Also, oval is the best, and get one big enough to do a pork shoulder for pulled pork. The lid should have a locking device for travel in your car. I think you can get all those things with just the basic appliance at WalMart. If you want more bells and whistles, you will have to spend more money.

Cuisinart makes a nice multi-functional slow cooker.
