@QVCkitty1  I totally agree with you regarding Barilla & DeCecco.  You should also try Lidia's (Bastianich sp?) brand.  It's very good.

@coffee drinker , I agree, sadly my market stopped carrying Lidia's pasta. They have started carrying Rao's pasta and though I'm a big fan of their sauce, I don't find the pasta to be special, it's good but just not special.

Very simply: A product is created, a price is established, it is presented to the public to buy.   Shopper decides if they want the product or not based on their personal criteria.  This happens with every product produced in every type of outlet from underwear to homes. For goodness sakes take care of your own business and stay out of others choices.

@coffee drinker  No one is "stealing" anything.  No one is being forced to buy the product.  We buy whole wheat pasta at our local supermarket.  Works just fine.

They Offer and people buy it or don't buy it.

Just like they Offer $500.00 handbags and $50.00 hair products.

It's up to you to decide for yourself.

@coffee drinker

I'm doing the stealing.  I'm the thief.  I ordered it.  And YES, I CAN imagine paying that for Handmade, flavored pasta.

Have you ever been to an Italian Market or Gourmet Shop?  QVC prices are the same.

I do not find QVC food prices outrageous at all.

I typically use only DeCecco and Barilla.  However, these are specialty pastas.  Not the same taste, consistency, texture OR flavor.  Not pumped out by a machine.

It is no one's business how much I choose to spend on what.  I am sure I would shake my head at other's purchases as well.
