My husband has so many VHS tapes of PBS cooking shows from the 90's.
He has Cajun Cook, Yan can cook, The Frugal Gourmet, I can't even remember all of them.
True that Food Network goes in a different direction these days.

I don't really see anything new on the other shows. Pioneer Women makes things my mom made in the 70's. They are just recycling old recipes most of the time. And believe me, I certainly don't think I know everything about cooking!
Love Anne's shows. My favorite FN show of all time is Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, with chef Guy. Pioneer woman is so uncomfortable to watch in front of the camera. Not much cooking going on.

I used to be glued to the Food Network. Never watch at all now.

Sandra Lee has the most elaborate wacky tablescapes, but her food is crr@p.

It's funny that you should say that about Sandra Lee, missy.
I was watching one of her shows, and I saw a recipe of hers that I thought that my husband and I would like. It happened to be a slow cooker recipe, and it wasn't that difficult to make. If I recall correctly, it was made with pork chops, which we both enjoy.
Well, I didn't look at the reviews for the recipe first, which would have given me some idea of what others had thought about it. It had gotten terrible reviews, sadly.
I followed the recipe exactly, and we didn't care for the dish, either.
I ended up throwing the recipe away, afterwards.
