The NEW... What's cooking at your house this jumping June?

[ Edited ]
I can't even find the words to explain my disgust at this board.

I told you so yesterday.

Can't find our original posts. Tried and search came up with 2013.

Well this is the pits for sure but did manage to find this post. Cannot find many others - suspect this means they were thrashed. Not right at all. This is the junkiest forum I have ever seen.

I'm just trying to find familiar threads. It seems as if you have to find a thread and start anew. I thought someone said you had to hit tag but I don't see it. Maybe you'll see this and maybe not

Re: The NEW... What's cooking at your house this jumping June?

This is so frustrating. Can't get in, even using Google as the "new" topic isn't there to click on.

Have to go in the back door using the main website, click community, then click welcome to the "new and exciting" changes...Right...NOT!

Would like to meet the idiot that came up with this idea and smack him in the head! Wonder how much this cost QVC?

Just feel like giving up but that might just be what "they" want.

Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

3 tsp olive oil (divided)
1/2 sweet yellow onion, diced
8 oz of button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
1 lb of lean ground beef (96/4)
Bulb of roasted garlic
2 pieces of bacon, crumbled

Sea salt and fresh cracked pepper, to taste
1-2 packets of brown gravy mix, prepared per instructions

Prepare roasted garlic Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat, once done remove to a paper towel to drain. Remove all but 1 teaspoon of bacon grease from the skillet then add 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the diced onion and cook until soft and tender, about 5-6 minutes, stirring often. Remove from heat and set aside to cool. Add the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons of olive oil to the same skillet over medium high heat. Add the mushrooms once the pan is very hot. Let them sit, without stirring for 3-4 minutes for a nice golden color. Flip the mushrooms and continue to cook for a few minutes until golden brown.

In a small saucepan, prepare gravy per instructions. Once it's thickened, add the golden mushrooms and simmer.

Combine the ground beef, bacon bits, caramelized onion, roasted garlic bulb, steak seasoning, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper in a large bowl. Form into oval shaped patties, not too thick or thin. Add the last teaspoon of olive oil to the same skillet over medium heat. Once it's hot, add the salisbury steak patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or to your desired degree of doneness.

Place the cooked steak patties on a serving dish and cover with mushroom gravy. Enjoy.

Re: The NEW... What's cooking at your house this jumping June?

This is DUMB and DUMBER. Was already signed in but decided I would post on this since I found it. Yippee. Had to sign in again - what a royal pain.

But at any rate had a great dinner last night - all prepackaged or whatever. I get from Side by Side each month a great variety of food. It is not bound by income and a good 10 years or so, my friend Brenda introduced it to me - her daughter in law worked with it in some manner. Bought it for a couple years and then didn't - for whatever reason. My church handles it or at least they have the info for you to sign up and it is distributed at my church - once a month. You drive up, pop your trunk and young people load it up - works great. You pay $35 and get a minimum of 70 pounds of food - different stuff but always has some fresh fruit/veggie, tons of spaghetti sauce and the pasta - and so it goes. Always get a pound of very good hamburger meat and always get a package of chicken quarters - and other things change from time to time.  Last Saturday I picked mine up and there were two family packages of tortellini cheese delicate - a blend of mild cheeses wrapped in thin pasta. Had never heard of it much less eaten it. Also got two containers of prepared Alfredo sauce. Last night I boiled the pasta - so good - and nuked the Alfredo. All of us pigged out on it - so very very good. You just never know.

Hotter than you know what AGAIN. Did fill the bird feeders this morning and it was not easy to do. Much hotter than is our norm for this time of year. The humidity is going to be worse than last year I believe - sure wish the no humidity here would return.

Have a bit of spaghetti in the fridge - pasta already mixed in the sauce - and have some of the pasta we ate last night left - boy howdy that was good. I think I am going to put that pasta in the freezer as I think we can squeeze another meal out of it therefore do not want anyone sneaking it out. LOL.

Hope all have a good day. Still cannot find the Back Fence anywhere. Boo Hoo..

Re: The NEW... What's cooking at your house this jumping June?

I thought id check to see if you were still here. I don't cook much but do stalk the thread. In a way we did have too many subtitles so maybe this will work. It probably depends on How many people will still post

It was interesting to see some familiar names under community chat. Some I didn't realize were still posting. Without so many sub titles maybe we will reconnect. Hope that is the case

Re: The NEW... What's cooking at your house this jumping June?

Still here Betty but the odds are getting worse on staying. LOL. Thanks to Bev, we are able to find this familiar site. Went back to HSN and s\can get there very easy but even they have changed. Did order a pair of Berkies from them - haven't ordered anything from them in years and years. BUT they have Berkies AND Easy Spirit. Their boards look as if they too have gotten in line with all the tech stuff but it is a lot easier to read, etc. Do not like it a lot but it is better than this board. I would much prefer going to boards that are enjoyable - not those where you have to tax your mind and body trying to make it work.

Still do not have a clue as to what is for dinner - last night the kids finished up the spaghetti and I had a bowl of ice cream.

Still in the triple digits here - just miserable. My house gets horribly hot and stuffy from about 9 to 1 a.m. I turn the AC off as if I ran it all night it would not take long to not be able to pay the electric bill. They - along with all the utility companies - raised rates something fierce in the past year so some of us have to pick and choose what we can and cannot do. Not right at all. I could not sleep until a little after 11 - and then woke up at 1 to make the bathroom trip. LOL. And so it goes.

Stay cool - we are projected for at least the next week to continue with this horrible weather - just not right for this time of year.

Re: The NEW... What's cooking at your house this jumping June?

Well I found you guys again, not liking this at all, my "Preferences" are not activated, did it like 3-4 times, still not working, it's like too much work, are they trying to discourage us so there will be no more Forums, seems that way to me. Soushi that recipe looks really good, I'll give it a try. Winifred please hang in here (I'm trying) I haven't tried HSN but think I'll mosey over there. Preds Hugs to you too! Maybe we can salvage this, I sure hope so, this is one of the few places where everyone is considerate of others, hope we can continue Take Care All
