Re: The Cake You Dislike The Most?

@Kachina624   Interesting comment,  I relish the food I eat!  I make delicious recipes and have an infinite choice of variety!  Wish you could come to my house for dinner and share a hearty tasty meal.  I really enjoy cooking for others.  If you knew me, you would find your comment unintentionally humorous!Heart

Re: The Cake You Dislike The Most?

@Scooby Doo  OMG!  I have a really good guy friend.

He is just a good ole' country guy and likes to tell me stories of his mom making fruit cakes.

Every year, a few days after Christmas, he goes to a 'handy man store' and buys (not exaggerating) all of the small fruitcakes they have (all 25 or so).

He always tries to give me a few.  I'm like, "That's OK.  You like them...you keep them".  Ha!

I asked him what he does with all of those fruit cakes.  He looked at me, puzzled, and said, "I eat them of course".  I said, "But you must eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner".  He laughed and said, "Pretty much".

I can't imagine.  I guess there are people who like fruit cake, but other than him, I've never met them.

@phoenixbrd. Excuse me if I'm mistaken but that's how you seem in your posts.  I'd love to try a meal you've prepared.  I'll call you next time I'm in Phoenix.

How do you do, @Annabellethecat66 .  Glad to meet you.  I LOVE fruitcake but it must be good quality full of nuts, fruit and a little booze doesn't hurt.  I used to make them every year but it became cost prohibitive so now I just buy one occasionally.

Now you've officially met someone who loves fruitcake.  (It's especially good with tea or coffee for breakfast)

No boxed cake mixes or anything that involves Cool Whip (tastes like chemicals to me).

fruitcake

german chocolate

yellow

upside down pineapple

red velvet

It seems that these are alot of peoples least favorites, I thought it was just me!

I don't mind box cakes and I like the confetti cake but there has to be icing from scratch mainly buttercream.

My favorites are my homemade mississippi mud cake, and qvc's lemoncello and tiramisu cake.

HeartI love cake.  If I had to pick a least favorite, it would be spice cake.

I admit to never having tried fruitcake due to it's unappetizing appearance.

Red velvet. Can't figure out what it's supposed to be, but it's definitely not worth the calories.

Re: The Cake You Dislike The Most?

Well I guess I can say I’ve “met” one of the 3 people who like fruitcake.

I don’t think it’s much of an exaggeration to say most ( but I’m sure you are an exception) most people who enjoy (?) fruitcake get to eat it days, weeks or months after it’s been made.

Perhaps if they’d eaten it fresh they’d enjoy it as much as you do.

@Annabellethecat66

Hello, my name is Drythe, and I love fruitcake.

I think it gets a bad rap as few people have eaten real homemade fruitcake.  If you purchased your favorite cake, made in a factory, in bulk, using who knows what in it, packed up, hauled to a store, and left sitting about for however long, how high would your expectations be?

A homemade fruitcake, made with quality ingredients, by someone who knows how to bake is a treat.  Yummy 😋
