Re: Temptations lid it cracked in half in oven

I saw this title ealier when I logged in.  My screen did that annoying bounce and I thought the title was "Temptations Lid Cracked in Half on America's Test Kitchen."

Get your flu shot...because I didn't.

I have had that happen to me twice now.  I only have one left, so I don't put it in the oven

Re: Temptations lid it cracked in half in oven

I had a round Pyrex baking piece crack in half back in the 80's.  It was full of sweet potatoes that were being carried to the table for Thanksgiving dinner.  Luckily it cracked as I was walking to the table and everything went on the floor.

not sure why it is not "fair". you can return items to qvc within 30 days for a full refund......and an even longer period of time if you buy it during the holiday return policy period (over 4 months to use a product and return it). temptations now has a 3 year warranty that is clearly stated on their website and it does say that you need to pay the $10 for shipping. the original poster did not say how long she has had her piece.

i have many temptations items and none of them have cracked. i have had a lot of success with the line and have given some as gifts. there is no reason why qvc needs to stop selling temptations because there are those of us who love and use the products....evidently a lot of people or they would not keep selling it.  if they dont work out for you then it is obviously your choice to stop purchasing those items.

@Lipstickdiva

i have had pyrex break also. once it is broken you will find glass pieces for days if it really shattered. most of the time now when i remove items from the oven (temptations, pyrex, rachael ray, corningware) i  use a large cookie sheet or a tray to place the vessel on and then transport it to the table. that way if anything DOES break it just breaks on the tray and not all over the place. sometimes i just put the entire tray in the oven and then place the cookware on top of it to bake.

Re: Temptations lid it cracked in half in oven

I had an 8x8 lid it break in half in a cabinet. I  placed it in a cabinet whole then maybe 6 months later went to use it and it was in 2 pieces. It was not at all crowded where I bumped it . The cabinet is on an outer wall which is cold, but to my knowledge a refrigerator and freezer is cold also. TT is supposed to be used in those. It was within the 1 year warranty and TT would send me a replacement for $9.95 sh&h --but I did not feel an 8x8 lid it would be worth that.

I still use the TT sets I have and  I like how they bake and clean up . Of course I do not find them to be no stick always without a spritz of oil,   but I like them better than metal.

Nothing studied or scientific , but the posts I have read of items cracking have seemed to be the 'lid its' and more flat items. My pruchases have mainly been smaller products. I have a pyrex lasagne pan that I have used for eternity.

I do not understand why someone would have and agenda against TT or??? and take the time and effort to post if it did not happen. I believe it after my experience.
