Temptations breaking in microwave!

I thought these were supposed to be microwave, oven, dishwasher and freezer safe? Apparently, they are not, considering I was warning up some French fries, for 30 seconds, in an 1100 watt microwave, and I heard the plate snap. I would consider this information from Temptations as false advertising.

Have you cared for them in accordance with instructions?  For example, they say you shoudn't let them soak in water, because the bottom - which is unglazed - may absorb water and be prone to breaking when heated.

ValuSkr...Yes, I have.  I wash and dry them, by hand.  I don't let them soak.

I thought I read somewhere that ceramic baking dishes/casseroles need to be completely covered on the bottom with  food.  French fries are probably better cooked in a metal pan.

Novamc...They were already cooked.  I was re-heating them.

Understood, but the point is that ceramic doesn't do well in a microwave when the bottom is not covered with something moist.  I think the same principle applies if one were to place an empty ceramic coffee mug in the microwave.  It would probably  crack, because microwaves work by stirring up molecules in liquid.   At least this is what I have always understood to be true.  Maybe not.

This is a product line that is simply not properly fired.    That is one of the main reasons they have problems with cracking, breaking, crazing, etc.

If you like the items, although they really are quite aesthetically unappealing but my taste is probably pretty boring, Smiley Happy you will be best served to not put them into ANY kind of heat source and just still hope for the best.

Thank you Chickenbutt. May just have to use them without heat, meaning I'll need to get new dishes from somewhere else.

They seem like way too much trouble, I'm glad I never purchased any.

@QVCkitty1  ME too, plus I find them unattractive.

Over the years we've heard many, many horror stories about Temptations breaking.  My favorite was the poster whose pan broke as she was lifting the Christmas prime rib from the oven with guests at the table, sending the whole thing all over the floor and open oven.  I felt so badly for her.
