Temp tations: What's up with all the decals?

I've really curtailed my purchases because we've lost most of our hand painted color options.  I built a huge floral lace collection then my color disappeared.  A lot of the more elegant seasonals are gone too.  Anyone remember figural Harvest it was a stunner?  Or floral lace Fall and Pumpkin?  Now all we've got is Boofetti and Harvest mix decals.  So disappointing.

Temptations is showing up everywere at resale and marketplace apps.  I cannot believe the amount I have seen.  I just came home from a trip through a local resale and it had a huge amount.  Local marketplace online has had complete "collections."

Re: Temp tations: What's up with all the decals?

I acquired a couple sets way back in the early days when everything really was hand painted. I still love them and use them all the time.

After a pause of many years, I started to collect white woodland and white willow. I did like the interesting pieces that were out of the ordinary and useful for entertaining. I gave about a year ago however. Nearly every piece arrived flawed ~ either with pinholes, black speckles, a wierd off-white color, or broken. The worst was pieces that should have been a single piece but were glued together and useless for baking or putting in the dishwasher.

I do miss the early temp-tations but the new stuff isn't worth it to me anymore.

I bought a few pieces when they were first offered.  I choose the solid navy blue.  Each piece came with a wicker type carrier and a plastic lid.

My larger 9x13 casserole split right down the middle while I was baking a homemade lasagne.  It took me quite a while to make the flat sheets of pasta and pasta sauce from scratch  and it ended up on the bottom of my oven in a big mess to clean up.

I never wanted or purchased anymore.  I still have my old Corning ware.  It is over 50 years old and looks like new and I use it a lot.

I have one very small piece of Temptations left.  I use it to hold sugar packets.

Someone said TT are on sale all over, even at thrift stores. Buyers losing interest? I have a OW Confetti bowl I bought years ago with a small paint smudge. I did not return it because that told me it was hand painted. I didnt mind decals with the last few pieces I bought, but do they last or will they eventually scrape off? I'm a poor retiree now so my TT buying days are over.

Hi the "decals" are fired on the ceramic and are permanent and will not scrape off. Enjoy your retirement! Smiley Happy

I was always skeptical when Tara claimed Temp-tations pieces were "hand-painted."

They used to all be hand painted because you could see the brush strokes, both floral lace and old world.  I really hope she brings back all the colors for the 25th anniversary.  Also things like the sculptural dinnerware.  I have some of that in the Harvest pattern and it is really lovely I'd like to add to it.
