Technique 6.5 qt oval pressure cooker problems

I have had no problems with this cooker until today. I used it yesterday for corned beef with no problems. I washed it and used it for a second corned beef today and it wouldn't come to pressure. It spouted steam all over the place, and the valve was sticking way out with steam coming out of that too (when I touched it, it popped out!). I actually took it outside as I was afraid to have it in the house. After three tries I gave up and put it on slow cook.

Does anyone have a clue what is wrong with it? I made sure the area around the valve was clean (it was) and the gasket was placed just so (it was). I am stumped and ticked.

I'm glad I started the beef early today as it was ultimately ready right about dinner time.

Do you have the manual? I can't find mine.  I over filled mine and blew the safty valve off. I need to know if there is a part list and how to put it back together.

I have found that sometimes you have to press down on the top when the steam is coming out, and then it will catch the seal.....Hope maybe this would work..........

Found the manual here. Just click open to view. You can save to your desktop so it's easy to find. http://www.hippressurecooking.com/technique-oval-talking-electric-pressure-cooker-manual/

Only thing you can do is remove the lid check the gasket, clean it & put it back on, take the lid off & put it back on.These things have to be seated just right.
