The other day, I helped the science teacher involve the kids at school in making ice cream in a plastic bag. We had the kids put half & half, sugar, and vanilla in a quart sized ziploc bag and zipped it up. In a gallon sized bag, we put ice and rock salt together. Then, we put the quart sized bag into the gallon sized bag and zipped it up. Everybody rolled their bag around for about ten minutes and voilla! Ice cream.
What I was wondering was whether we could have used table salt instead of rock salt and still get ice cream. Anybody know?
