A few years ago when I bought my Thanksgiving turkey I got a small turkey for free. I just froze the small one and made it last Summer. It was delicious! Not unusual to have turkey dinner during the Summer.

We cook ground turkey every week. And we had chicken and dressing, with a southwest touch, last week. But then we haven't had a traditional Thanksgiving in a long time.
And my mom never did mashed potatoes or some of the other traditional things either and we switched to easier things like steaks or crown roasts long ago from turkey.

My family and I are ready to eat turkey breast and gravy anytime! When my husband and I are home alone, we enjoy the Hormel turkey refrigerated entrees that are heated in the microwave, or even a TV dinner. We enjoy turkey meals often throughout the year; Thanksgiving is just bigger in order to last at least 3-4 days.

Turkey is a true favorite among all the members of my family, so we actually have a "halfway to Thanksgiving" dinner in June each year, basically a complete replication of the big November meal but often with fewer guests and therefore smaller food amounts overall. This year, temperatures have been so hot compared to the usual that we've delayed it to June 23—fingers crossed that we'll have at least slightly cooler weather when the oven has to be on for hours!

I toss Turkey Wings, Drumsticks and sometimes Thighs (when I can find them) in the crockpot throughout the year.
While I almost always make garlic mashed potatoes to go with, I sometimes serve them over rice or egg noodles - Using the gravy that is made along with it from the crockpot, it makes for an easy and delicious Sunday Dinner.
Ok, so now you've got me craving stuffing and cranberry sauce (LOL)

I stuff whole chickens and turkeys the whole year around. They are such a good value.
I also make Christmas cookies with red white and blue sprinkles in July.
I don't wait for a holiday to make things we love. Life is too short.
We BBQ outside in the winter too.

When turkeys are on sale in November, I usually get an extra one and save it for another Thanksgiving meal sometime during summer. I don't go all out the way I might if company is coming, but we still enjoy turkey, gravy, mashed cauliflower, fresh green beans. I haven't used the extra turkey yet, but will pretty soon.

Yes, I eat these all year long. Think I will make a sweet potato pie when I get some time.
