I just keep mine in the dairy compartment with the butter in the frig door.  I always purchase my bulbs of garlic at Whole Foods.  They only sell locally grown garlic at my store.

Thank you so much for the facts about USA vs China grown garlic bulbs!

This is helpful info.

Has anyone ever tried swallowing garlic bulbs (trimmed only) as a health item? Curious if anyone found them to be beneficial?

@LTT1

My uncle used to swear by chewing a cleaned clove of garlic and drinking a glass of hot water if you have a cold and then climb into bed and "sweat it out" as he used to say.  Always tried to convince me to do it when I get bronchitis but never did.

It is not recommended to store garlic & onions in refigerator because moisture can cause them to spoil more quickly.

I have these bags in my pantry.  They work for me.

I also use minced garlic in the jar for some things, but always have garlic bulbs hanging around.

Those are so cute!  And a great way to store them all because it lets air flow through the material.

@beach-mom I have a red clay garlic storer with a lid that's got to be about 40 years old.  I keep it on my dresser and use it to hold my brushes. The top is in my underware drawer.   My mother gave it to me for Christmas, many many years ago.

We grow our own garlic.  We use lots in our cooking and baking.  We braid  our garlic and store it hanging in our cellar.  When needed we just cut a whole head off the braid.  Keep the head  in a marble bowl in the kitchen.  Do not store garlic cloves in the fridge. It won't last as long.

@Carmie --Oh I really like the veggie"socks". Heard you shouldn't store onions and spuds together----if I only had a pantry.

@cindyNC --I have one of those too---to roast the garlic in--you need to soak it for awhile before--have never used it for that tho.

@Imaoldhippie- I buy a bag of peeled garlic, chop them all in my KA food chopper, add about a tsp. of canola oil and store it in a glass jar.  It lasts a long time and never goes bad, costs less than buying it already minced.  The bag costs me about $1.50 and it fills a 12 0z. jar to the top.  So easy and ready for my recipes.
