@SeaMaiden  All depends on your kitchen. I have no closet to house it in nor a pull out cabinet. My sister has a pull out cabinet one and it drives me crazy. Pulling the darn thing out all the time.

My plastic one has a lid opener which I hate to touch. Has grooves and is hard to clean. I’ll be looking for one with a foot pedal. Don’t know what I’ll wind up buying. I want what’s easiest for me, not my company.

Why not?  I use a kitchen trash bag as a liner.  I have had a plastic can in the kitchen for way over twenty years.  I am thrifty when it comes to some things.

BedBathBeyond still carries a lightweight  SimpleHuman plastic, slim, foot-pedal trash can for $19.99 that's either identical or similar to what  I bought several years ago when we first moved here.

I got it because it can easily go into the pantry closet out of the way, but I never put it there.  It can be moved around so easily that I keep it out and ready to use at all times.

They also carry a similar one for $39.99.   Heavy metal cans just don't suit our needs.

Mine uses the 13-gallon Kirkland trash bags on sale at the moment at Costco.

I quickly flipped to ITKWD on Wednesday while my daughter was sitting next to me.  After watching David go on and on about how great this garbage can was.  She asked "Why is David so excited about a Garbage Can.  Its just a garbage can.  Ours isn't hard to use."  She is 9.

I have a cabinet right next to the sink that has pull out kitchen trash cans in it.

If they were not hidden like that I would not have a problem buying a nice trash can that's visible in the kitchen.

I'd spend $99 in a heartbeat.  I'm always using my trashcan - that and the faucet are probably the most used things in my kitchen!

I got a red metal battery-operated one and love it; and, at the same time I helped SCRNYC 'cause a portion of the purchase on amazonsmile goes to this rescue group.

I'd much rather spend more on things I use all the time, e.g. everyday dishes as opposed to fine china.  So to me spending more on a trashcan is well worth the money.

Mine opens in a heartbeat!  You just walk over to it and it opens.....a few times over the years, it's opened by itself with no one standing nearby!

Right on, Pook! I also don't understand all the wrath over them being sold and bought by others.  I too have two of these Simple Human battery-operated trash cans and I love them. Will everyone think the purchase of these is "worth it to them?" No, of course not, but I suspect for those people who think paying this much for a trash can is ridiculous, there are products that they buy that others of us wouldn't think are worth the money. We all have products that we think are worth every penny we paid for them that others wouldn't pay for at all and vice-versa.

Often what I need to put in my trash can is messy - it is in the kitchen, after all. I like that I don't have to touch the trash can to open it and be able to toss in whatever is in my hand. I don't make a mess on the top or side of the trash can getting rid of whatever is in my hand. And I don't have to clean the lid or side of the trash can.

for only $49. Half price. Still new and in box, maybe it was the

previous year's model but we could not pass up the great price.

Check your Home Depots, Lowes if you have any available in your

area. Never know what they might have on discount.
