Well they will definitely get stale before they go rancid, so you probably already threw them out!

but yeah, eventually, everything with fat/ oil will breakdown, causing rancidity...

Re: Spoilage in Lock and Lock?

I'll offer up a possibility on this one.

Perhaps the crackers got damp, from humidity or steam in the kitchen (or even in transport) and were put away with enough moisture in them to cause this to happen.

Locking in some moisture with the crackers, might have caused this.

Also, if the container was used for something prior, and didn't get clean enough (not calling anyone dirty or incompetent, but it can happen) especially under the seal, it could have contaminated the crackers and caused this.

Just a thought.

Re: Spoilage in Lock and Lock?

i have two tall containers sold for cereal that have flip tops for pouring. .  the tops do not seal like the outside locks if that makes sense.  if i lived in a humid buggy part of the country i would not use those containers.

Re: Spoilage in Lock and Lock?

I think the problem is in the saltine cracker itself.  I actually stopped buying them several years ago, and switched to the Kroger brand of oyster crackers, because I couldn't find a decent saltine.

Never had anything spoil in a Lock n Lock but I have so much trouble closing (locking  ) the lids that I avoid them.
