Any owners of the KA Spiralizer ? If so had you tried any of the hand operated ones previously and how do they compare?

I bought the Dash one from HSN and also a bargain one at a thrift store . They both do great on zucchini , cucumbers, & onions. I tried a sweet potato today and it was very difficult. I finally got it , but the arthritis in my hands flairs sometimes and I just do not have much strength. (I digress but - Martha Stewart has a great /simple recipe for roasted sweet potato/fresh pineapple on her web site for those who like a more savory recipe for those Smiley Happy )

My question is does the KA one make up for lack of strength and work as smoothly as it appears to on camera?

I am considering a purchase as the more 'spiralized' recipes I try the more I want.

Hi there,

I have the KA spiralizer and it is so easy!!  It cleans up great in the dish washer.  No effort at all to pop it on, put on your food item and then turn on your Kitchen Aid mixer,  and it does a beautiful job.  I have not tried any manual spiralizers, so I cannot provide any comparison to those.

I had the Paderno spiralizer before I bought my KA version. I love the KA one because it's handsfree and easy to use and well made. Having said that the Paderno can do larger vegetables like cabbage because the blade is longer and it doesn't have the arm support limiting the diameter of the produce. So I kept both. I use the KA one 95% of the time though.

ty. I figured the cheaper spiralizers would be sufficient for me , but as I said I found I really like spiralized items and use them more than I thought. I know QVC demos look so easy . Of course they have assistants prep the items just right .I have seen a few reviews here and there that are disappointed with the ability to cut the sturdier items.

What you 2 told me sounds encouraging. I plan to do some comparasion shopping. Going to go back thru ads as I thought I saw it advertised at Target at a lesser price --but need to see the total package.

I bought the electric spiralizer from Wolfgang when it was the day's special.  Came to about $40. and I like it, but since I like the spiralized veggies so much I'm thinking I should have bought the KA attachment instead.  I was afraid I would have a hard time using it.  I see it at Target for $79. this week.   Also, Amazon has many different styles.  I don't think I would want a handheld manual one--some look hard to use and hard to clean.   Some with a stand and you turn a handle look easier and aren't very expensive.   I really liked the spiralized vegetables.

I have the extra two blades for my KA one and I do use them. So if you want more variety you might want to consider them. Since links to any other retail store get deleted I won't bother posting them, but at least one store was selling the set with all five blades. K305789 is the item number for the additional blades.

I have the KA one and love it!  I looked at all the other "gadget type" ones for a long time. I love my veggies and the idea that the motor on the KA would do the work. I'll get arthritis in my hands so this was a consideration for me. The KA attachement comes as a kit and it does apples, etc. There is a different blade for the different types of fruits and veggies. It has a good warranty as well.

I love making "spaghetti" from zuchinni and yellow squash. I just use butter and grated cheese on top and it's almost guilt free (if you are counting calories) It also heats nicely in the microwave.
