@qualitygal  What else might you be thinking about spiraling? While I don't have one I'm always open to new ways to fix, serve foods, great ideas to do new presentations.

I've done apples in mine. It makes a sprial ring which is great for baking. Kids also seem to like to eat the rings instead of the whole apple by itself. Being a grandma, I was always looking for ways to get fruits and veggies into my grandson. You can put cucumbers thru this or any soft squash. It makes great salads or veggie dishes. The sprial ring is a great time saver to just make a few slices thru the item and move on to the next step. I have a few different blades with mine so I can do items like small eggplants and different sizes of apples. I really love it for the squash because it makes for a quick and healthy dinner. I also like the fact that you can use the type of "spaghetti" with just butter or sauce or cheese. It makes a great lunch if you have a meat and potatoes type of dinner.

I have tried quite a number of spiralizers including the ones from Puck and Ming, but returned all.   When I finally bought the Ninja one from QVC # K46587, I have finally found what I feel comfortable using.  It's fast, easy to clean, and also comes with a separate chopper container and blades.  A winner all around.

I have two different ones, a hand crank one and the Kitchenaid attachment. They are sightly different so I'm keeping both. I really like mine. I'm not much of a pasta fan, but I like the sauces and dishes so being able to make them with vegetable noodles is a win win for me.

@qualitygal  I love my spiralizer and because I eat a lot of raw food, it is a must in the kitchen.  A large salad is usually a meal every day and I enjoy including zucchini, beet, and sweet potato zoodles for the salad.  I use a Paderno which is a well-known sturdy model.  Recently my sweetheart bought me an electric model and we threw it in the trash....just awful.  It was a Gourmia (?spelling).  He is still on the hunt for an electric model, but I'm happy with the one I've used for years.  Spiralizers are a lot of fun and give you variety and interesting options.  (I think mine is on sale at Williams Sonoma.)

You're making me want to hit up my local bbbas I've looked at these there. I can see me making your salad for us. We too eat a lot of raw veggies, salads and the like.

Re: Spiralizer....

[ Edited ]

I have the Cuisinart spiralizer ($15) from Costco. I use it mainly to make zucchini noodles. I've also used it to spiralize red onions to use in salads.
