I've been doing a lot of research about nutrition, and I came across this and the thread about "12 Spices" reminded me of it. I've read that spices are nutrient-dense, and that adding lots of spices to meals makes any food into a "super food". And to aim for adding at least three spices to each meal. Every time we do this we upgrade our food.

So, when I made my almost meatless burritos (lol) last night, instead of just the cumin I usually add, I also threw in some paprika, chili powder, oregano and a little turmeric. And I wrapped them up with some cilantro. It didn't change the taste much, just made the flavor a little more complex and rich. I plan on trying to incorporate this idea into as many meals as I can, even with breakfast (adding cinnamon and nutmeg to oatmeal, various spices into eggs). It's not that difficult, and every little bit helps.

I've read that consuming 15-20 spices a day is ideal, I'm aiming for 10 at least.....I can see this would work with spaghetti sauce, chilis, eggs and various other foods.....

BTW, herbal teas count also.....
