Our store is 125 miles away, near our specialist doctors.  So I fill-in with online orders.  Today they are out of stock on two basic items, Aller-fex allergy tablets, and dishwasher pods.  Both are Kirkland products.  I'd rather get stuff here than from Amazon or E Bay.  Is that where the merchandise is going, or is Costco in financial trouble?

Re: Speaking of Costco . . .

Kirkland is Costco's house brand.  I doubt they're sending their own product to third party sellers if their own shelves aren't stocked.

It's that time of year when everyone is buying Allergy meds.

@depglass No way is Costco in trouble!

Re: Speaking of Costco . . .

I was wondering if they were having supply issues or were taking quarterly inventory because for the past two weeks the health and beauty area at my local Costco was low and out of stock on quite a lot of product. Didn't notice so much on the food side, but they were out of a few supplements I regularly buy and the chewy fiber things I buy. I've had to buy fill ins at grocery store and paid a lot more.

But no, I do not believe COSTCO is hurting at all.

@depglass  Stores from time to time do run out of stock on a particular item, or items, including their own house brand, but that does not necessarily mean they are in financial trouble, least of all, Costco.

That's quite the mental leap.

Re: Speaking of Costco . . .

Their latest sales circular that comes in the mail had a big spread on allergy medications.  It's that time of year.  Maybe they're just sold out.

Sometimes, some stores get mdse that others don't.  I fell in love with the Kirkland Butter Toffee Cashews and then they disappeared from the shelves before Christmas.  They still have it online and I finally ended up ordering 4 bags since it appears my store isn't carrying it anymore.  They also rarely have Peets Maj. Dickenson's whole coffee beans which is what my DH likes so I got a couple of bags of that too to make the free shipping price.

There are still grocery shelves with many items missing. I think it's not only supply chain issues, but also a problem with having enough employees to stock shelves. In times past shelves would be stocked after stores closed. Now it seems that shift has been eliminated.

Re: Speaking of Costco . . .

It's been my experience that our local Costco periodically runs out of some items or doesn't have them on shelves for a couple of weeks for whatever reason.  The Costco I go to was extremely busy today and the gas pumps were really backed up.  They were out of a couple of their brand items we buy and I will just check next week for those items.  Lots of things were shifted around for the seasonal planting items.

This happens periodically (even on line) so I don't know why you would think there is a financial problem with Costco based on this occurrence.
