Yeah if this thing goes to Easter, food may be at a premium. My store is already rationing potatoes ( I love home made potato salad) and who knows what else may be missing on our Easter supper table.

I understand it's a real favorite in Hawaii!
You' re right. Spam is big in Hawaii. They have every flavor of spam you could imagine. When we toured a macademia nut farm I asked the guide which tree is the macademia spam tree.

I keep it all the time. Spam fried rice or Spam with plain rice is delicious! A Hawaiian lady I worked with said her mom called it "iguana rice" when she was young!

We live in the Spam capital of the world - Hawai'i. I like to keep a can or two around, but man, you should see people buy it at Costco, cases & cases, & that is during normal times, not during this crisis. People here take Spam seriously.
We even have an annual celebration for it...Spam Jam...but it's been canceled due to the current crisis.

A few trips through Weight Watchers taught me the point value is very high. Can't remember, but I haven't bought it in 40 years. DH asks for it, so I will make a point of checking the can for nutritional value. Probably an oxymoron, meaning none.

I am in WV, and the IGA price for regular Spam is usually $3.29 - $3.69 a can. CVS often sells it 2 for $5.

I grate it and add chopped onions, pickles and mayo for a sandwich filling. Fried as a breakfast meat, or for sandwiches. My whole family likes Spam skillet; cubed Spam, fried potatoes, onions and peppers, with melted Colby jack cheese on top.
We don't eat Spam every day, every week, or maybe not every month, but we do like it, and it’s always in this house.
When you make the sandwich filling with onion, pickles and mayo, do you cook the Spam? I am guessing that Spam is precooked but does it still have to be cooked like Taylor Pork Roll or something similar?

I love Spam but gosh haven't had it in many years! Now I want some! Fried!
Sorry but it is one of the few complete foods--salt, fat and sugar--is a pork product, and is wonderful!
We had it once in awhile growing up, and I always thought it was a treat! My dad loved it too, mother, not so much, so she'd eat a bite or two and have a cigarette! ![]()
