Re: Spaghetti.....what happened?

I still break mine in thirds. If I don't, it looks like I'm eating worms.😃

Re: Spaghetti.....what happened?

I like my pasta whole. I let it soften a bit until it twirls around. Anyone else prefer to rinse their pasta? Chefs always say not to but tastes too gummy if you don't.

Re: Spaghetti.....what happened?

I don't know what might've happened there, since the OP said the strands were unbroken going in.

As for me, I only cook spaghetti (and other pasta shapes) in a skillet these days with very little water. I always liked to cook, but any time I can avoid steaming pots of water and fewer pots and pans, I do. Especially considering how often we eat pasta
It's one of our favorites.

Speaking of spaghetti has anyone used a microwave pasta cooker?  I just happened to click on HSN the other day, they were selling this item for $17.99 plus s/h, it cooks pasta in minutes, I am on the fence about ordering, I looked online, Amazon sells it for alot cheaper.

@SoCal Bred I got one on Amazon.  I only have 2 eyes on my stove.  This frees up an eye, uses less water, and it's easier to pour into a container to save.  The actual cooking time for pasta is the same, but you're saving the time of heating the water to boiling.
